Macro Meats Shootout Final – Queen Lauryn withdraws

by Matt on November 10, 2009

This Thursday night (12 November) Sandown Park will play host to the final of Group 3 Macro Meats Shootout Final; a very attractive race with a nice purse to the winner of $20 000. The 515m race sees four greyhounds taking on each other in a mad race that is often over too soon.

The original field named for the race was Graeme Bates Velocette and Turanza Bale, Tony and Fleur Brett’s Queen Lauryn, and Darren Mcdonald’s Cosmic Rumble. However, following Queen Lauryn’s respectable run in the Macro Meat’s Crown Classic last week, trainer Tony Brett has withdrawn Queen Lauryn from the race, after noticing a slight hip injury in today’s training. Obviously with the Solo Melbourne Cup heats coming up next week, Brett had no issues withdrawing her now to rest her up.

Last year’s 2008 winner, Mantra Lad, was first reserve for the race and has filled the Queen’s berth. The amended field for the race now sits at Velocette (box1), Turanza Bale (box 3), Mantra Lad (box 5) and Cosmic Rumble (box 7).
