Thursday night saw the running of the 2009 Brisbane Cup final at Albion Park, with $3.50 odds greyhound Mr Metz ultimately taking out the $55 000 prize.
Mr Metz (trainer: Ron Ball) took out the Group 1 feature, narrowly beating Dashing Corsair ($7) by just a neck, with third place greyhound Side Cutter rounding out third position the same margin behind.
Jumping from box 5, Mr Metz claimed victory in a time of 30.11, bringing up his record to 10 wins from 13 starts… an intimidating record to be sure.
The night also saw a major upset with race favourite, Cindeen Shelby ($2.50) coming in in very last place, a very disappointing run indeed from a greyhound that otherwise has had a fantastic year in 2009.
