GRNSW Media Release – 2010 Golden Easter Egg Sky Fly High Bred To Win

by Matt on March 3, 2010

The following is a media release put out by GRNSW touting Sky Fly High as being “bred to win” the 2010 Golden Easter Egg. It makes for an interesting read and gives punters something to think about. Please note we will also update our dedicated 2010 Golden Easter Egg Race page with this same information.

The full media release is included below.

Looking for that well-bred Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg entrant? Look no further than Sky Fly High.

Closing in on her fourth birthday, the Vincent Bennett-trained veteran can count on proven bloodlines in Australia’s biggest race.

Her mother Token Melody is the daughter of outstanding sire Token Prince, who counts 2006 Golden Easter Egg winner Edie Beauchamp and 2008 champion Blazing Token among his best offspring.

Token Prince shares the most successful sire in Golden Easter Egg history with his father Malawi’s Prince, who shot to fame with back-to-back successes courtesy of Malawi Law (1995) and Tenthill Doll (1996). Black Shiraz is the only other sire to throw multiple Golden Easter Egg winners with Stately Bird (2000) and Cyrus The Virus (2003).

It all adds up nicely for Sky Fly High, a former National Futurity runner-up, ahead of the second Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg Prelude at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

“Malawi’s Prince is basically the star kingdom of greyhound breeding and the same with Token Prince,” Bennett said.

The winner of each of the two Preludes is guaranteed entry into the heats of the richest free entry race in the world.

Robert Smith’s classy Lochinvar Marlow and Queensland visitor Robo Raptor present Sky Fly High’s biggest danger to punching that ticket into what will be her farewell series.

“He’s (Lochinvar Marlow) drawn inside of me so I’m going to run on the outside of him all the way,” Bennett said. “If he misses the kick I’m a chance. Sky Fly High has won seven at Wentworth Park and this will probably be her last couple of starts. We just hope she gets to the final of the Easter Egg.”
